How to Make a Fan for Summer

8 april 2024

Welcome back to electronicmindset.com

In this article, I will show you how to make a simple fan for the summer, especially when the temperature goes up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. This fan is strong and perfect for staying outside in the very hot weather.

Well here are the steps you need to build this fan.

Table of contents

1. Gather Your Supplies
2. Construct the Circuit
3. Prepare the Cardboard Base
4. Assemble the Components
5. Stay cool

Step 1: Gather your materials.

You will need:

  • A 3V DC motor
  • A 9V battery connector
  • A fan blade
  • A button or switch
  • A hot glue gun
  • 9v battery
  • Cardboard
  • Soldering iron
  • Wires

Step 2: Build the circuit.

circuit

First, connect the battery with the connector.

Secondly, connect the positive wire of the battery holder to the negative wire of the DC motor. Then, use a wire to connect the motor to the button. Finally, connect the negative wire of the battery holder to the button. At first I connected the wires with my hands, because I have the world's worst solder and soldering iron, but you can attempt soldering if you want.

One problem that I had was that the blade was designed to suck in air instead of blow it out, so I had to make sure the motor spun the opposite way. To do this I just soldered the black wire on the battery snap to the red wire on the motor. Then I soldered/glued the black wire on the motor and the red wire on the battery snap to the button.

Step 3: Cut the cardboard

First, take the cardboard and cut 4 shapes of 2cm*10cm and 1 shapes of 3cm*3cm. Then glue them together to make a parallelepiped. Then take the "parallelepiped" and glue it to a rectangle of 6cm*10cm.

Step 4: Glue all together

DC fan

After completing the previous steps, glue the DC motor to the top and glue the entire circuit to the holder. Then, insert the fan blade into the motor.

Step 5: Stay cool

Build a DIY fan

Now that everything is put together, make sure that everything is working perfectly. Make sure that no wires have fallen out of place or that every time you press the button the blade doesn't hit your thumb. If it is not working make sure that the battery is charged first. If it is not the battery check all of your connections. If it is not those then you probably have a broken motor or button.

Thank you for reading this! I hope you enjoy your new DIY mini fan, it's great for traveling. If you want you can even make a little base to stand it on. In the meantime, stay cool!
